Sharona Refalo (Ghajn Sielem, Gozo) made Malta & Gozo proud with a second placing against some tough international competition whilst Ophelie Laffuge from France stood her ground till the third place after losing her final card battle against Sharona.

Holding a 174K stack, Domenico Tortomasi started in the lead by Day 2 ahead of 19 players whose objective was to dethrone him and secure their position as the tournament chip leaders! Jorryt Van Hoof was in close pursuit, just 4k chips behind and Maurizio Melara was next with 156K.  Milly Uylenbroek trailed behind with little over 138k.

Winner - Milly Uylenbroek - Malta Poker Open 2010 - Powered by XLBet
The 2 day main event came to a close on the 31st October 2010 at the Portomaso Casino when Milly Uylenbroek won the tournament, after an exemplary heads up with Jorryt van Hoof!
As well as the top two players, the remaining tournament winners were entirely from European regions, the majority of which were Danish poker players brought to the live poker tournament through XLBet - Online operator for Poker, Casino, Sports and E-Sport betting.
At the final hours of the tourney, Dutch couple Jorryt van Hoof & Milly Uylenbroek, proved to the crowd that poker is poker and nothing comes in the way of a good heads up when it’s called for.  Milly won the €25,000 first prize after a spectacular final table against Van Hoof and came out on top of the other 103 players who participated at the Hold’em tourney.  Jorryt & Milly played scores of hands before Milly eventually emerged as the winner of the Malta Poker Open 2010.

Mikael Larsson - 3rd prize at the Malta Poker Open main event - Powered by XLBetSwedish player Mikael Larsson (PowerPoker.com), ended up 3rd, winning €13,500 for his placing, whilst Stefan Raffay from Denmark (MyPokerBlog coach) & a strong tournament favourite - managed a €9,200 win after suffering a string of bad beats which sent him out in 5th place.  Francis Kjaersgaard from XLBet (9th) and Jørund Berstad (10th) also got very respectable finishes giving the Danish players almost 30% of the money prizes in the main event.

Italian poker players, Maurizio Melara (4th) and Domenico Tortomasi (8th) went home with €11,200 and €3,600 respectively, taking a fair size of the pot over to neighbouring Italy.  “Mimmo” Tortomasi was one of the 33 players who won his main event entry through a €110+10 Super satellite held at the Portomaso Casino.

A Betsson player, Tellef Igland, showed strong qualities against his opponents all the way up to the final table.  Tellef ended his tournament journey in 6th place winning €7,200 in the last few hours of the tourney

Jetbull’s Piotr Klosinski from Poland, earned his respect on the Maltese Poker field with a 7th place finish, winning €5,200 at the main event final table.  Piotr won his entry through the Jetbull live poker tournament qualifiers and spent the week-end in Malta playing poker and experiencing all that St. Julians has to offer.

Malta’s very own Jackie Cachia, successfully placed Malta on the winning sheet with her 13th placing - Within inches of the final table.  Jackie has already proved her skills at numerous tournaments like the Mediterranean Poker Cup 2010, and at a 2010 Irish Poker Open event earlier this year, each with ‘in the money’ finishes.
