November Satellite - Episode 1 - 5th November 2009 Added On: 24/11/2009

Host: Malta Poker Events
Venue: Portomaso Casino
Tournament Style: 27+3 Re-buy [Limited to 1 re-buy & 1 top-up]
Registered Players: 16
Prizes Paid: 5 [Three €220 Tickets, 2 €27+3 Satellites]

The first episode of the November €27+3 satellites attracted 16 players at the Portomaso Casino on Thursday the 5th November and gave players their first opportunity to win a seat for the end of month €220 freeze-out taking place on Sunday the 29th November 2009.

The dealers shuffled up and dealt the first hands of the re-buy tournament at 20:40.  To take advantage of the structure, some of the more aggressive players made their first re-buy as soon as they paid out their blinds giving them a boost at the earlier stages of the challenge by taking their chip stack to almost 6,000.  Other less aggressive and cautious players applied a tighter strategy in order to take advantage of the greater prize pool which was being inflated with the additional entries from re-buys and top-ups.

The final hand of the night saw a challenge between Mario Mannara and Jacob Nielsen.  Mario pushed all-in with his 6,700 chips whilst holding K5 and got called by Jacob holding AQ.  Jacob, who more than covered Mario’s push, found this an easy bet to call and moved in accordingly.  The flop showed 7J343 which didn’t help any of the players by strengthening their hands in any way.  Nevertheless, Jacob’s Ace high was enough to send out Mario in 4th place, bringing the game to a close with the last three players earning themselves entry to the November €220.

Winners from left to right: Jacob Nielsen, Nicolas Martin, Michael Curmi

5 Prizes were given out in the tourney to the following players
